WI News for May 2018

Martinstown WI 1948

Our speaker this month was  the Manager from our main charity "You First" ( formerly known as " The Women's Refuge ") , giving us a thought provoking talk on the challenging and rewarding role of the "You First" charity.  As an audience we were captivated to hear  how the charity has evolved to cater for the diverse needs of a modern Dorset. After the talk we presented the speaker with an "Edible Pamper Hamper" full of delicious goodies to treat the vulnerable clients. Then our club was shown a beautiful image of Martinstown for the Dorset federation's Centenary Year Book, designed by the Vice-President Rosie Duke (with help from her family). The club gave Rosie an enthusiastic response for her creative work, well done!

"Flower of the Month" was won by Elaine Hall with a beautiful red Camelia.

Next W.I Outing: Holme Gardens (near Wareham), 25/05/18 ( Fingers crossed for a good weather).

Next month's meeting is 13/06/18 at 6.45pm: "Healthy Living Theme" with fun chair based exercises  to be lead by Celia & Lesley, and healthy option snacks provided by Heather & Barbara.

Heather Bonser ( W.I Press Officer ).

Waste Watch Scheme
- operating in the village.

Although papers can be separated and recycled with the bi-weekly refuse collection this scheme means that the local parish can financially benefit from separate treatment of newspapers.

There are two collection points each located at the Parish Office and the car park of the Village Hall by means of a green bin or box.

Your used newspapers and magazines can be bundled into manageable piles and securely tied with sturdy string. Newspapers and magazines should be bundled separately but can be placed in the same boxes and are regularly collected.

Please use this method of recycling where possible as credit is received via the current scheme to the parish for use towards local matters.
