Twenty-two (including dogs),
go to Studland!

Sally an Toms Studland walk f

Time and tide wait for no man and certainly not for the seventeen Mileaters and five trusty dogs that strode across the Studland beaches on Saturday, 20 January.

I had been promising the troops, a walk without mud which indeed was delivered, even so we had a casualty due to terrain. One of the party went over on a stone in the car park; managing to head butt his own vehicle on the way down just to add insult to injury. I had a first aid kit on me for such events but unfortunately though being a fearless, well equipped leader, I can be slightly thick – I had told them the wrong car park to meet up in. In my defence, the NT car parks are numerous along that stretch. The Mileater in question was righted, brushed down and with bruised knees and pride, carried on with a smile and determination but no sticking plasters from me.

We were amazingly blessed with the weather – it had been a drizzly and rather misty journey to Studland but on arrival the clouds parted and the sun shone on the righteous (well, we were joined by the vicar for her first Mileater walk). The views both ways were lovely with the sun shining on Sandbanks and the Chain Ferry and then on the return, glinting off the white cliffs of Old Harry Rocks. Despite the sun, it was a nippy day so we were all surprised to see a naturist on the beach though he was keeping himself warm by wearing a flat cap and a pair of gloves!

It started to rain as we returned to our cars and by the time it became torrential, we were all tucked safely up in the Scott Arms at Kingston enjoying a delicious lunch and patting ourselves on the backs for our great timing and our dogs because for once they were not covered in mud, glorious mud.
