Mileaters Walk Monday 6th June
After a bout of unsettled weather 14 of us set off from Hardys Monument in glorious sunshine.
Down through the woods to Black Down Barn and then a gentle uphill to the ridge above Hell Stone on Portesham Hill, from where we were blessed with wonderful clear views across Abbotsbury and the Fleet. Continuing on the SW Coast path to the top of Bishops Road we then headed north towards Little Bredy where we stopped for coffee – borrowing the steps of the cricket pavilion to bask in the sun for a while.
From there it was a gentle walk to Little Bredy Farm and then the only significant uphill to the top of the ridge and again splendid views to the north. Through the woods and back to Hardys monument before most of us set off to the Coach House Inn at Winterbourne Abbas to refresh the parts that needed refreshing!
