The party enjoyed crossing the many rivers and streams, some of which involved the risk of wet feet. There were a number of ducks and swans around. The swans seemed amused watching our party walk past. Little did we realise the excitement (and perhaps a little anxiety) we were about to experience when Charlie the dog decided to go “walkabout”. A number of the Mileaters spent a hectic 20 minutes shouting “Charlie” at the top of our voices. Luckily there were not too many other people about to witness such a strange spectacle.
Thankfully Charlie was eventually found looking a bit guilty, but safe and sound. What a relief!
The climb up through the heath (see picture) got some of us breathing a little heavier, but the setting was worth it - very tranquil
After a brief stop for coffee at the Thorncombe Woods Visitor Centre, the walk continued without further incident . We all enjoyed the serenity of the riverside path from Stinsford to Lower Bockhampton and we concluded with a nice lunch at the Wise Man Pub.
