Following on from the successful alpacas visit to Martinstown W.I, a visit to the "Alpaca Adventure" near Shaftesbury was on the cards. So, Thursday 12.04.18 five W.I ladies ( Lesley, Ann, Gill, Angela & Heather) set off early to go "Alpaca Walking".
The owner Wendy Williams introduced us to our individual boy alpaca, and gave us instruction on how to handle and walk them. We followed Wendy through the fields, guiding our individual alpaca on their walk.
We would suddenly be stopped as the alpacas would come to a halt to scratch or eat grass. At the end we were allowed to stroke and cuddle our alpaca, it was like stroking & cuddling a thick woolly carpet. Then back to the yard, to have fun watching the young alpacas in their stable...one was so cute it looked like a panda, with it's black and white fur.
After the walk we went off to the Half Moon pub for lunch, then the drive back to Martinstown. Aww...what a wonderful day to remember ...lots of cute moments to remember.
Next W.I meeting Wednesday 9.05.18 @ 6.45,pm...talk from Women's Refuge.

Thursday 15th March, five members went on a trip to Athelhampton House for a science lecture on plastic soup. Very informative lecture and brought to light many things we had not realised. A very good lunch followed and then the five returned to Martinstown.

WI Christmas Lunch 2017
The Christmas celebrations continue as the WI have a christmas trip. First stop, the lovely new Aldi at Chickerell for some festive shopping, then on to Lynch Lane Garden Centre for morning coffee and a browse. Goodness me we know how to live it up.
Then it was onto Portland for a quick charity shop shop, then a marvellous four course christmas lunch at the Sugar Loaf cafe. The game hum that tune had us all in hysterics, while the blowing of bubbles became quite competitive.
Seasons Greetings to everyone and a Happy New Year.
