Thank you to the organising committee for a most enjoyable Village Show in August. Although
It was a ‘scaled down’ version there were many wonderful entries. Congratulations to Jill Pearce for her Fuchsia which won first prize in the Valley Club category.
Several Valley Club members had a very interesting visit to Keyneston Mill gardens near Blandford on Tuesday 14th September. The gardens cover many acres and are planted in sections depending on their scent. The plants are grown for their oils which are used in perfumes which are made at Keyneston. Originally an orchard, the present owners bought it in 2016 and began planting in 2017. A range of perfumes are sold in the shop/cafe. Many thanks to Eileen for arranging this trip.
We hope you all enjoyed the Fish & Chip Supper which is always very popular.
Our next event will be on Monday 18th October at 8.00pm when Colin Varndell will give a presentation on “The Hedgehog Predicament”. He will cover the natural history of the hedgehog, its decline and the reasons for it. He will also tell us what we can do as individuals to help hedgehogs. Non-members are always welcome to attend the talks.
