Martinstown WI celebrate their 17th birthday
At the WI Christmas party this year we had a double celebration as it is our 75th Birthday. So in true WI style we had wonderful food and a glass of fizz. During this year our craft group have been very busy making a new banner. This banner was revealed at our party, and it is stunning. Of course, no party is complete without games, so the Tie break was won by Katie. Instead of one person making a birthday cake we wanted every member to contribute, so during the evening every member was asked to decorate a couple of cupcakes. These were then put together to form a colourful 75.
Happy Birthday Martinstown WI.

WI trip to Sherbourne
On a very very wet day 9 WI ladies ventured out to Castle gardens garden centre for a spot of shopping and of course lunch. After which we headed off to Sherbourne Abbey for the annual Dorset WI carol service, which is a lovely way to start the festive season. The drive back wasn’t so festive in the pouring rain.
Merry Christmas to all...

WI trip to Kingston Maurward
On a very sunny and dry day the WI headed out to Kingston Maurward for a gentle stroll around the gardens. Perhaps you can spot the tree huggers! The walled garden was very good lovely green house and some flowers still out in bloom. After some like refreshment we had a visit to the animal park. A very pleasant day was had by all.
Dorset Federation AGM
Dorset Federation held its annual AGM at Poole light house. 7 members from Martinstown attended. Our President Rosie Duke collected our 75th birthday certificate. The morning speaker was Ann Jones our very own Chair of NFWI and the afternoon speaker was the Rev Kate Bottley.
The WI visit Monkey-World
Ten Ladies and One Husband ventured off to Monkey world, We had a private tour which was very informative. The apes and monkeys were a joy to watch but I think we all could have stayed and watched the Orangutan nursery so entertaining to watch.
